How To Install kephra on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install kephra on Kali Linux.
What is kephra
kephra is:
Kephra is gui text editor writen in Perl but not only for Perl developers.
The features of Kephra are:
- File: file sessions, history, simple templates, open all of a dir, insert, autosave by timer, save copy as, rename, close all other, detection if file where changed elsewhere
- Editing: unlimited undo with fast modes, replace (clipboard and selection), line edit functions, move line/selection, indenting, block formating, delete trailing space, comment, convert (case, space or indention) rectangular selection with mouse and keyboard, auto- and braceindention
- Navigation: bracenav, blocknav, doc spanning bookmarks, goto last edit, last doc, rich search, incremental search, searchbar and search dialog
- Tools: run script (integrated output panel), notepad panel, color picker
- Doc Property: syntax mode, codepage, tab use, tab width, EOL, write protection
- View: all app parts and margins can be switched on and off, syntaxhighlighting bracelight, ight margin, indention guide, caret line, line wrap, EOL marker, visible whitespace, changeable font
- Configs: config files to be opened through a menu: settings, all menus, commandID’s, event binding, icon binding, key binding, localisation (translate just one file to transelate the app), syntaxmodes and some help texts to be opened as normal files
There are three methods to install kephra on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install kephra Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kephra using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kephraInstall kephra Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kephra using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kephraInstall kephra Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kephra using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kephraHow To Uninstall kephra on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the kephra package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kephraUninstall kephra And Its Dependencies
To uninstall kephra and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove kephraRemove kephra Configurations and Data
To remove kephra configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge kephraRemove kephra configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove kephra configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge kephraDependencies
