How To Install kdump-tools on Debian 12

In this tutorial we learn how to install kdump-tools on Debian 12.
What is kdump-tools
kdump-tools is:
kdump-tools provides an init script and a configuration script for automating the use of kdump. It uses the makedumpfile utility to reduce the size of the /proc/vmcore file based on user preferences.
After installing, please see /usr/share/doc/kdump-tools/README.Debian for information on enabling and configuring kdump.
There are three methods to install kdump-tools on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install kdump-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install kdump-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kdump-tools

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install kdump-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kdump-tools
Install kdump-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install kdump-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kdump-tools
