What is kdiff3

KDiff3 is a program that - compares and merges two or three input files or directories, - shows the differences line by line and character by character (!), - provides an automatic merge-facility and - an integrated editor for comfortable solving of merge-conflicts - has support for KDE-KIO (ftp, sftp, http, fish, smb) - and has an intuitive graphical user interface.

We can use yum or dnf to install kdiff3 on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install kdiff3.

Install kdiff3 on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install kdiff3 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install kdiff3

Install kdiff3 on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install kdiff3 using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install kdiff3

How To Uninstall kdiff3 on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the kdiff3 package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove kdiff3
