What is kde-workspace

The KDE Workspace consists of what is the desktop of the KDE Desktop Environment. This package contains * khotkeys (a hotkey daemon) * klipper (a cut & paste history utility) * kmenuedit (the menu editor) * krunner (a command run interface) * kwin (the window manager of KDE) * plasma (the KDE desktop, panels and widgets workspace application) * systemsettings (the configuration editor)

We can use yum or dnf to install kde-workspace on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install kde-workspace.

Install kde-workspace on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install kde-workspace using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install kde-workspace

Install kde-workspace on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install kde-workspace using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install kde-workspace

How To Uninstall kde-workspace on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the kde-workspace package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove kde-workspace
