How To Install kde-full on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install kde-full on Kali Linux.

What is kde-full

kde-full is:

KDE is the powerful, integrated, and easy-to-use Free Software desktop platform and suite of applications.

This metapackage includes all the official modules released with KDE Sotware Compilation that are not specific to development and as well other KDE applications that are useful for a desktop user. This includes multimedia, networking, graphics, education, games, system administration tools, and other artwork and utilities.

There are three methods to install kde-full on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install kde-full Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install kde-full using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install kde-full

Install kde-full Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install kde-full using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install kde-full

Install kde-full Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install kde-full using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install kde-full

To uninstall only the kde-full package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove kde-full

To uninstall kde-full and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove kde-full

Remove kde-full Configurations and Data

To remove kde-full configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge kde-full
