How To Install julia-common on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install julia-common on Kali Linux.

What is julia-common

julia-common is:

Julia is a high-level, high-performance dynamic programming language for technical computing, with syntax that is familiar to users of other technical computing environments. It provides a sophisticated compiler, distributed parallel execution, numerical accuracy, and an extensive mathematical function library. The library, mostly written in Julia itself, also integrates mature, best-of-breed C and Fortran libraries for linear algebra, random number generation, FFTs, and string processing. Julia programs are organized around defining functions, and overloading them for different combinations of argument types (which can also be user-defined).

This package contains the Julia standard library and test suite.

There are three methods to install julia-common on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install julia-common Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install julia-common using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install julia-common

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install julia-common using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install julia-common

Install julia-common Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install julia-common using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install julia-common

How To Uninstall julia-common on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the julia-common package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove julia-common

Uninstall julia-common And Its Dependencies

To uninstall julia-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove julia-common

Remove julia-common Configurations and Data

To remove julia-common configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge julia-common
