How To Install jsamp on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install jsamp on Kali Linux.
What is jsamp
jsamp is:
Command-line tool for the Simple Application Messaging Protocol (SAMP) for the Virtual Observatory (VO). This allows direct access to low-level operations such as starting a local SAMP communications hub for other applications such as Aladin, Topcat and Splat-VO to communication with each other.
In addition to starting a SAMP Hub, the ‘jsamp’ tool allows for monitoring, snooping, testing, and stress running hub instances, or setting up a bridge proxy between two or SAMP hub instances.
There are three methods to install jsamp on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install jsamp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jsamp using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install jsampInstall jsamp Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jsamp using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install jsampInstall jsamp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jsamp using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install jsampHow To Uninstall jsamp on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the jsamp package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove jsampUninstall jsamp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall jsamp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove jsampRemove jsamp Configurations and Data
To remove jsamp configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge jsampRemove jsamp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove jsamp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge jsampDependencies
