How To Install jemboss on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install jemboss on Kali Linux.
What is jemboss
jemboss is:
EMBOSS is a free Open Source software analysis package specially developed for the needs of the molecular biology (e.g. EMBnet) user community. The software automatically copes with data in a variety of formats and even allows transparent retrieval of sequence data from the web. Also, as extensive libraries are provided with the package, it is a platform to allow other scientists to develop and release software in true open source spirit. EMBOSS also integrates a range of currently available packages and tools for sequence analysis into a seamless whole. EMBOSS breaks the historical trend towards commercial software packages.
Jemboss is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to EMBOSS, the European Molecular Biology Open Software Suite. It is part of the EMBOSS distribution.
There are three methods to install jemboss on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install jemboss Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jemboss using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install jembossInstall jemboss Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jemboss using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install jembossInstall jemboss Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jemboss using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install jembossHow To Uninstall jemboss on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the jemboss package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove jembossUninstall jemboss And Its Dependencies
To uninstall jemboss and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove jembossRemove jemboss Configurations and Data
To remove jemboss configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge jembossRemove jemboss configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove jemboss configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge jembossDependencies
