How To Install jami on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install jami on Kali Linux.
What is jami
jami is:
Jami is an end-to-end encrypted secure and distributed voice, video, and chat communication platform that requires no central server and leaves the power of privacy and freedom in the hands of users.
To some degree Jami provides similar functionality like Telegram, BigBlueButton, Jitsi Meet, etc do.
Jami supports the following key features:
- One-to-one conversations
- File sharing
- Audio calls and conferences
- Video calls and conferences
- Screen sharing in video calls and conferences
- Recording and sending audio messages
- Recording and sending video messages
- Functioning as a SIP phone software
Jami client applications for several desktop and mobile operating systems and platforms are available on https://jami.net/, making Jami an interoperable, cross-platform communication framework.
This package contains the Jami desktop client: jami-gnome.
There are three methods to install jami on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install jami Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jami using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install jamiInstall jami Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jami using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install jamiInstall jami Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install jami using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install jamiHow To Uninstall jami on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the jami package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove jamiUninstall jami And Its Dependencies
To uninstall jami and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove jamiRemove jami Configurations and Data
To remove jami configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge jamiRemove jami configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove jami configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge jamiDependencies
