How To Install jacktrip on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install jacktrip on Debian 9.
What is jacktrip
jacktrip is:
JackTrip is a Linux and Mac OS X-based system used for multi-machine network performance over the Internet. It supports any number of channels (as many as the computer/network can handle) of bidirectional, high quality, uncompressed audio signal streaming.
You can use it between any combination of Linux and Mac OS X systems (i.e., one end using Linux can connect to the other using Mac OS X).
It is currently being developed and actively tested at CCRMA by the SoundWIRE group.
There are three methods to install jacktrip on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install jacktrip Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install jacktrip using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install jacktrip
Install jacktrip Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install jacktrip using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install jacktrip
Install jacktrip Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install jacktrip using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install jacktrip
How To Uninstall jacktrip on Debian 9
To uninstall only the jacktrip package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove jacktrip
Uninstall jacktrip And Its Dependencies
To uninstall jacktrip and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove jacktrip
Remove jacktrip Configurations and Data
To remove jacktrip configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge jacktrip
Remove jacktrip configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove jacktrip configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge jacktrip
