How To Install jabberd2 on Kali Linux

What is jabberd2
jabberd2 is:
Jabber is a free instant messaging server based on XMPP.
This package contains Jabberd 2, the next generation of the Jabberd server. It has been rewritten from the ground up to be scalable, architecturally sound, and to support the latest protocol extensions coming out of the XSF.
There are three methods to install jabberd2
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install jabberd2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install jabberd2
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install jabberd2

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install jabberd2
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install jabberd2
Install jabberd2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install jabberd2
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install jabberd2
How To Uninstall jabberd2 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the jabberd2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove jabberd2
Uninstall jabberd2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall jabberd2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove jabberd2
Remove jabberd2 Configurations and Data
To remove jabberd2
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge jabberd2
Remove jabberd2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
