How To Install itools on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install itools on Kali Linux.
What is itools
itools is:
The itools is a collection of command line tools that mimics the development of the underlying ITL library (libitl) and is meant to always give the end-user simple means to access its functions. The available tools are:
- ical: Display a Hijri calendar.
- idate: Multi method Hijri/Gregorian date converter.
- ipraytime: Prayer times and Qibla calculator and schedule table generator.
- ireminder: Prayer time reminder Perl script.
This package is part of the Islamic Tools and Libraries project.
There are three methods to install itools on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install itools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install itools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install itoolsInstall itools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install itools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install itoolsInstall itools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install itools using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the itools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove itoolsUninstall itools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall itools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove itoolsRemove itools Configurations and Data
To remove itools configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge itoolsRemove itools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove itools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge itoolsDependencies
