Itamae is a simple and lightweight configuration management tool inspired by Chef. It has a Chef-like DSL, recipes only, and is idempotent.

Itamae can run locally, or over SSH. It can also operate on Docker or Vagrant targets. Itamae leverages the Serverspec/Specinfra project to be OS agnostic.

There are three methods to install itamae on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install itamae Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install itamae using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install itamae

Install itamae Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install itamae using apt by running the following command:
