In this tutorial we learn how to install ironic-inspector on Debian 12.

What is ironic-inspector

ironic-inspector is:

This is an auxiliary service for discovering hardware properties for a node managed by OpenStack Ironic. Hardware introspection or hardware properties discovery is a process of getting hardware parameters required for scheduling from a bare metal node, given it’s power management credentials (e.g. IPMI address, user name and password).

A special discovery ramdisk is required to collect the information on a node. The default one can be built using diskimage-builder and ironic-inspector-ramdisk element.

This package contains the daemon.

There are three methods to install ironic-inspector on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ironic-inspector Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ironic-inspector using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ironic-inspector

Install ironic-inspector Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update
