What is ipxe-qemu

ipxe-qemu is:

iPXE is network boot firmware. It supports a variety of network cards, including some wireless cards, and variety of network protocols (traditional DHCP, BOOTP and TFTP and also HTTP, iSCSI, SAN via FCoE and Infiniband). It supports scripting.

It is possible to use iPXE as a PXE ROM in the network card or to chainload it from other boot methods.

This package provides boot code for the qemu emulated network cards in as boot ROMs.

There are three methods to install ipxe-qemu on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ipxe-qemu using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ipxe-qemu

How To Uninstall ipxe-qemu on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the ipxe-qemu package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ipxe-qemu

Uninstall ipxe-qemu And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ipxe-qemu and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ipxe-qemu

Remove ipxe-qemu Configurations and Data

To remove ipxe-qemu configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ipxe-qemu

Remove ipxe-qemu configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ipxe-qemu configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ipxe-qemu
