How To Install iptables-ebtables on Rocky Linux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install iptables-ebtables
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is iptables-ebtables
Ethernet bridge tables is a firewalling tool to transparently filter network traffic passing a bridge. The filtering possibilities are limited to link layer filtering and some basic filtering on higher network layers. This tool is the userspace control for the bridge and ebtables kernel components (built by default in RHEL kernels). The ebtables tool can be used together with the other Linux filtering tools, like iptables. There are no known incompatibility issues. Note replacement of the legacy tool.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install iptables-ebtables
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install iptables-ebtables.
Install iptables-ebtables on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iptables-ebtables
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install iptables-ebtables
Install iptables-ebtables on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iptables-ebtables
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install iptables-ebtables
How To Uninstall iptables-ebtables on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the iptables-ebtables
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove iptables-ebtables
