How To Install iptables on AlmaLinux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install iptables on AlmaLinux 8.
What is iptables
The iptables utility controls the network packet filtering code in the Linux kernel. If you need to set up firewalls and/or IP masquerading, you should either install nftables or this package. Note ip6tables, which are drop-in replacements of the legacy tools.
We can use yum or dnf to install iptables on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install iptables.
Install iptables on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iptables using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install iptables
Install iptables on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iptables using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install iptables
How To Uninstall iptables on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the iptables package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove iptables
