How To Install ipa-server on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ipa-server on CentOS 7.
What is ipa-server
IPA is an integrated solution to provide centrally managed Identity (users, hosts, services), Authentication (SSO, 2FA), and Authorization (host access control, SELinux user roles, services). The solution provides features for further integration with Linux based clients (SUDO, automount) and integration with Active Directory based infrastructures (Trusts). If you are installing an IPA server, you need to install this package.
We can use yum or dnf to install ipa-server on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ipa-server.
Install ipa-server on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ipa-server using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ipa-server
Install ipa-server on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ipa-server using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ipa-server
How To Uninstall ipa-server on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the ipa-server package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ipa-server
