How To Install ipa-python-compat on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install ipa-python-compat
on CentOS 7.
What is ipa-python-compat
IPA is an integrated solution to provide centrally managed Identity (users, hosts, services), Authentication (SSO, 2FA), and Authorization (host access control, SELinux user roles, services). The solution provides features for further integration with Linux based clients (SUDO, automount) and integration with Active Directory based infrastructures (Trusts). This is a compatibility package to accommodate ipa-python split into python2-ipalib and ipa-common. Packages still depending on ipa-python should be fixed to depend on python2-ipaclient or ipa-common instead.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install ipa-python-compat
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ipa-python-compat.
Install ipa-python-compat on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ipa-python-compat
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ipa-python-compat
Install ipa-python-compat on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ipa-python-compat
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ipa-python-compat
How To Uninstall ipa-python-compat on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the ipa-python-compat
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ipa-python-compat
