This package contains common files for the ioQuake3 game engine, which can be used to play various games based on that engine, such as OpenArena, Quake III: Arena, World of Padman and Urban Terror. It also contains the dedicated server binary.

This package alone isn’t of any use; to get a playable game, install openarena or another suitable set of game data, or to get a usable server, install openarena-server or another suitable set of server data.

There are three methods to install ioquake3-server on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ioquake3-server Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ioquake3-server using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ioquake3-server

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ioquake3-server using apt by running the following command:

Install ioquake3-server Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ioquake3-server using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ioquake3-server

How To Uninstall ioquake3-server on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the ioquake3-server package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ioquake3-server

Uninstall ioquake3-server And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ioquake3-server and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ioquake3-server
