What is inkscape

Inkscape is a vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. It is therefore a very useful tool for web designers and as an interchange format for desktop publishing. Inkscape supports many advanced SVG features (markers, clones, alpha blending, etc.) and great care is taken in designing a streamlined interface. It is very easy to edit nodes, perform complex path operations, trace bitmaps and much more.

We can use yum or dnf to install inkscape on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install inkscape.

Install inkscape on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install inkscape using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install inkscape

Install inkscape on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install inkscape using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install inkscape

How To Uninstall inkscape on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the inkscape package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove inkscape
