In this tutorial we learn how to install inchi on CentOS 7.

What is inchi

The IUPAC International Chemical Identifier (InChITM) is a non-proprietary identifier for chemical substances that can be used in printed and electronic data sources thus enabling easier linking of diverse data compilations. It was developed under IUPAC Project 2000-025-1-800 during the period 2000-2004. Details of the project and the history of its progress are available from the project web site.

We can use yum or dnf to install inchi on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install inchi.

Install inchi on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install inchi using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install inchi

Install inchi on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install inchi using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install inchi

How To Uninstall inchi on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the inchi package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove inchi
