How To Install imaprowl on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install imaprowl on Kali Linux.

What is imaprowl

imaprowl is:

Prowl is a service and an App for iPhone’s Push Notification service.(APNs) see http://prowl.weks.net/ for more about Prowl.

IMAProwl is an utility script to notify new mail of IMAP server with Prowl service. It’s very useful to push notification of GMail or any other IMAP mail service to your iPhone.

This program uses IMAP/IDLE(RFC2177) or IMAP/NOOP to check the new mail on IMAP server and uses Prowl Public API via HTTPS.

There are three methods to install imaprowl on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install imaprowl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install imaprowl using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install imaprowl

Install imaprowl Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install imaprowl using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install imaprowl

Install imaprowl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install imaprowl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install imaprowl

How To Uninstall imaprowl on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the imaprowl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove imaprowl

Uninstall imaprowl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall imaprowl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove imaprowl

Remove imaprowl Configurations and Data

To remove imaprowl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge imaprowl

Remove imaprowl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
