What is imagemagick
imagemagick is:
ImageMagick is a software suite to create, edit, and compose bitmap images. It can read, convert and write images in a variety of formats (over 100) including DPX, EXR, GIF, JPEG, JPEG-2000, PDF, PhotoCD, PNG, Postscript, SVG, and TIFF. Use ImageMagick to translate, flip, mirror, rotate, scale, shear and transform images, adjust image colors, apply various special effects, or draw text, lines, polygons, ellipses and B?zier curves. All manipulations can be achieved through shell commands as well as through an X11 graphical interface (display).
This package include links to channel depth specific binaries and manual pages.
This is a dummy package. You can safely purge or remove it.
There are three methods to install imagemagick on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install imagemagick Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install imagemagick using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install imagemagickInstall imagemagick Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install imagemagick using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install imagemagick using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install imagemagickHow To Uninstall imagemagick on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the imagemagick package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove imagemagickUninstall imagemagick And Its Dependencies
To uninstall imagemagick and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove imagemagickRemove imagemagick Configurations and Data
To remove imagemagick configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge imagemagickRemove imagemagick configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove imagemagick configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge imagemagickDependencies
