How To Install iftop on Rocky Linux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install iftop
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is iftop
iftop does for network usage what top(1) does for CPU usage. It listens to network traffic on a named interface and displays a table of current bandwidth usage by pairs of hosts. Handy for answering the question “why is our ADSL link so slow?”.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install iftop
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install iftop.
Install iftop on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iftop
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install iftop
Install iftop on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iftop
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install iftop
How To Uninstall iftop on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the iftop
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove iftop
