How To Install ident2 on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ident2 on Kali Linux.
What is ident2
ident2 is:
ident2 is an advanced, configurable ident daemon. You can set it to lie, not lie, or not return any response at all, and it is per-user configurable (e.g. if user daniel was IRCing, it’d use ~daniel/.ident for its config, if user kim was IRCing, it’d use ~kim/.ident). The admin can specify whether users can configure the type of return they want or not.
There are three methods to install ident2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ident2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ident2 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ident2Install ident2 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ident2 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ident2Install ident2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ident2 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ident2How To Uninstall ident2 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ident2 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ident2Uninstall ident2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ident2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ident2Remove ident2 Configurations and Data
To remove ident2 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ident2Remove ident2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ident2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ident2Dependencies
