How To Install id3v2 on Kali Linux

What is id3v2

id3v2 is:

A command-line tool to add, modify, remove, or view ID3v2 tags, as well as convert or list ID3v1 tags. ID3 tags are commonly embedded in compressed music files such as MP3 and are the standard way to more fully describe the work than would normally be allowed by putting the information in the filename.

There are three methods to install id3v2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install id3v2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install id3v2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install id3v2

Install id3v2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install id3v2 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install id3v2

Install id3v2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install id3v2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install id3v2

How To Uninstall id3v2 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the id3v2 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove id3v2

Uninstall id3v2 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall id3v2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove id3v2

Remove id3v2 Configurations and Data

To remove id3v2 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge id3v2

Remove id3v2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove id3v2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge id3v2
