How To Install icoutils on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install icoutils on Kali Linux.
What is icoutils
icoutils is:
Icoutils is a set of programs that deal with MS Windows icons and cursors. Resources such as icons and cursors can be extracted from MS Windows executable and library files with “wrestool”. Conversion of these files to and from PNG images is done with “icotool”. “extresso” automates these tasks with the help of special resource scripts.
This package can be used to create “favicon.ico” files for web sites.
There are three methods to install icoutils on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install icoutils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install icoutils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install icoutilsInstall icoutils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install icoutils using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the icoutils package we can use the following command:

To remove icoutils configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
