How To Install icinga-common on Debian 9

What is icinga-common
icinga-common is:
Icinga is a modular monitoring framework for hosts, services, and networks, based on the Nagios project. It is designed to be easy to understand and modify to fit any need.
Features include:
- monitoring of network services via ping, SMTP, POP3, HTTP, NNTP, or TCP port
- plugin interface to allow for user-developed service checks
- contact notifications when problems occur and get resolved (via email, pager, or user-defined method)
- support for proactive problem resolution (handlers can be defined to be run during service or host events)
- web output: current status, notifications, problem history, log file, etc.
This package contains the common files for all Icinga packages.
There are three methods to install icinga-common
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install icinga-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install icinga-common
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install icinga-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install icinga-common
How To Uninstall icinga-common on Debian 9
To uninstall only the icinga-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove icinga-common

To uninstall icinga-common
