on Debian 9.
What is icedove
icedove is:
Icedove is an unbranded Thunderbird mail client suitable for free distribution. It supports different mail accounts (POP, IMAP, Gmail), has an integrated learning Spam filter, and offers easy organization of mails with tagging and virtual folders. Also, more features can be added by installing extensions.
The goal of Icedove is to produce a cross platform standalone mail application using the XUL user interface language.
This is a transitional package. It can be safely removed.
There are three methods to install icedove
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install icedove Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install icedove
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install icedove
Install icedove Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install icedove
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install icedove
Install icedove Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install icedove
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install icedove
How To Uninstall icedove on Debian 9
To uninstall only the icedove
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove icedove
Uninstall icedove And Its Dependencies
To uninstall icedove
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove icedove
Remove icedove Configurations and Data
To remove icedove
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge icedove
Remove icedove configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
