How To Install ibus-mozc on Debian 10

What is ibus-mozc
ibus-mozc is:
IBus is an Intelligent Input Bus. It is a new input framework for Linux OS. It provides full featured and user friendly input method user interface. It also may help developers to develop input method easily.
Mozc is a Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) designed for multi-platform such as Chromium OS, Windows, Mac and Linux.
ibus-mozc provides client part of the Mozc input method.
This open-source project originates from Google Japanese Input.
There are three methods to install ibus-mozc
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ibus-mozc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ibus-mozc
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install ibus-mozc

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ibus-mozc
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ibus-mozc
Install ibus-mozc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ibus-mozc
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ibus-mozc
How To Uninstall ibus-mozc on Debian 10
To uninstall only the ibus-mozc
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ibus-mozc
Uninstall ibus-mozc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ibus-mozc
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ibus-mozc
Remove ibus-mozc Configurations and Data
To remove ibus-mozc
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ibus-mozc
Remove ibus-mozc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ibus-mozc
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ibus-mozc
