What is hyphy-mpi
hyphy-mpi is:
HyPhy is an open-source software package for the analysis of genetic sequences using techniques in phylogenetics, molecular evolution, and machine learning. It features a complete graphical user interface (GUI) and a rich scripting language for limitless customization of analyses. Additionally, HyPhy features support for parallel computing environments (via message passing interface) and it can be compiled as a shared library and called from other programming environments such as Python or R. Continued development of HyPhy is currently supported in part by an NIGMS R01 award 1R01GM093939.
This package provides an executable using MPI to do multiprocessing.
There are three methods to install hyphy-mpi on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install hyphy-mpi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install hyphy-mpi using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install hyphy-mpi
Install hyphy-mpi Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install hyphy-mpi using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install hyphy-mpi
Install hyphy-mpi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install hyphy-mpi using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install hyphy-mpi
How To Uninstall hyphy-mpi on Debian 12
To uninstall only the hyphy-mpi package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove hyphy-mpi
Uninstall hyphy-mpi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall hyphy-mpi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove hyphy-mpi
Remove hyphy-mpi Configurations and Data
To remove hyphy-mpi configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge hyphy-mpi
Remove hyphy-mpi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
