How To Install hw-probe on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install hw-probe
on Debian 12.
What is hw-probe
hw-probe is:
A tool to check operability of computer hardware and upload result to the Linux hardware database.
Probe ?? is a snapshot of your computer’s hardware state and system logs. The tool returns a permanent URL to view the probe of the computer.
The tool is intended to simplify collecting of logs necessary for investigating hardware related problems. Just ask user to run one simple command to collect all the system logs at once:
sudo hw-probe -all -upload

There are three methods to install hw-probe
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install hw-probe Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install hw-probe
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install hw-probe
Install hw-probe Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install hw-probe
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install hw-probe
Install hw-probe Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install hw-probe
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install hw-probe
How To Uninstall hw-probe on Debian 12
To uninstall only the hw-probe
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove hw-probe
Uninstall hw-probe And Its Dependencies
To uninstall hw-probe
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove hw-probe
Remove hw-probe Configurations and Data
