What is highlight
A utility that converts sourcecode to HTML, XHTML, RTF, LaTeX, TeX, XSL-FO, XML or ANSI escape sequences with syntax highlighting. It supports several programming and markup languages. Language descriptions are configurable and support regular expressions. The utility offers indentation and reformatting capabilities. It is easily possible to create new language definitions and colour themes.
We can use yum or dnf to install highlight on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install highlight.
Install highlight on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install highlight using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install highlight
Install highlight on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install highlight using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install highlight
How To Uninstall highlight on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the highlight package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove highlight
