How To Install hey on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install hey on Kali Linux.
What is hey
hey is:
HTTP load generator, ApacheBench (ab) replacement, formerly known as rakyll/boom
Originally called boom and was influenced from Tarek Ziade’s tool at github.com/tarekziade/boom. Using the same name was a mistake as it resulted in cases where binary name conflicts created confusion.
To preserve the name for its original owner, this project was renamed to hey.
There are three methods to install hey on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install hey Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install hey using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install heyInstall hey Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install hey using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install heyInstall hey Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install hey using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install heyHow To Uninstall hey on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the hey package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove heyUninstall hey And Its Dependencies
To uninstall hey and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove heyRemove hey Configurations and Data
To remove hey configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge heyRemove hey configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove hey configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge heyDependencies
