How To Install heimdal-kcm on Ubuntu 18.04

What is heimdal-kcm
heimdal-kcm is:
Heimdal is a free implementation of Kerberos 5 that aims to be compatible with MIT Kerberos.
This package includes the KCM daemon which can hold the credentials for all users in the system. Access control is done with Unix-like permissions. The daemon checks the access on all operations based on the UID and GID of the user. The tickets are renewed as long as is permitted by the KDC’s policy.
There are three methods to install heimdal-kcm on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install heimdal-kcm Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install heimdal-kcm using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install heimdal-kcm
Install heimdal-kcm Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install heimdal-kcm using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install heimdal-kcm
Install heimdal-kcm Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install heimdal-kcm using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install heimdal-kcm
How To Uninstall heimdal-kcm on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the heimdal-kcm package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove heimdal-kcm
Uninstall heimdal-kcm And Its Dependencies
To uninstall heimdal-kcm and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove heimdal-kcm
Remove heimdal-kcm Configurations and Data
To remove heimdal-kcm configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge heimdal-kcm
Remove heimdal-kcm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove heimdal-kcm configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge heimdal-kcm
