What is hdf5

HDF5 can store two primary objects essentially a multidimensional array of data elements, and a group is a structure for organizing objects in an HDF5 file. Using these two basic objects, one can create and store almost any kind of scientific data structure, such as images, arrays of vectors, and structured and unstructured grids. You can also mix and match them in HDF5 files according to your needs.
We can use yum or dnf to install hdf5 on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install hdf5.
Install hdf5 on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install hdf5 using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install hdf5
Install hdf5 on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install hdf5 using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install hdf5
How To Uninstall hdf5 on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the hdf5 package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove hdf5
