How To Install hatop on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install hatop on Kali Linux.
What is hatop
hatop is:
HATop is an interactive ncurses client and real-time monitoring, statistics displaying tool for the HAProxy TCP/HTTP load balancer.
HATop’s appearance is similar to top(1). It supports various modes for detailed statistics of all configured proxies and services in near realtime. In addition, it features an interactive CLI for the haproxy unix socket. This allows administrators to control the given haproxy instance (change server weight, put servers into maintenance mode, …) directly out of hatop (using keybinds or the CLI) and monitor the results immediately.
There are three methods to install hatop on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install hatop Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install hatop using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install hatopInstall hatop Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install hatop using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install hatopInstall hatop Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install hatop using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the hatop package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove hatopUninstall hatop And Its Dependencies
To uninstall hatop and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove hatopRemove hatop Configurations and Data
To remove hatop configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge hatopRemove hatop configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
