How To Install gztool on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gztool on Kali Linux.
What is gztool
gztool is:
gztool indexes gzip-compressed files, allowing them to be accessed randomly (instead of from the beginning). It can index existing files, which takes as much time as decompressing the file entirely; it can also compress and decompress files itself, creating optimised indexes as it goes.
Other features include:
- watch and index a gzip-compressed file as it is created;
- partially extract a gzip-compressed file;
- tail a gzip-compressed file (including follow mode).
There are three methods to install gztool on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gztool Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gztool using apt-get by running the following command:

To uninstall only the gztool package we can use the following command:

To remove gztool configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
