How To Install gwyddion-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is gwyddion-plugins
gwyddion-plugins is:
Gwyddion is a modular program for Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) data visualization and analysis. It is primarily intended for analysis of height field data obtained by microscopy techniques like
- Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM),
- Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM),
- Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM),
- Near-field Scanning Optical Microscopy (SNOM or NSOM) and others. However, it can be used for arbitrary height field and image analysis.
This package yet contains only sample plugins for Gwyddion in Python, Ruby and Perl.
If you would like to extend Gwyddion’s functionality, you are encouraged to consider writing Gwyddion modules instead of plugins. For help on this, see the package libgwyddion20-doc.
There are three methods to install gwyddion-plugins
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gwyddion-plugins Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gwyddion-plugins
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gwyddion-plugins
Install gwyddion-plugins Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gwyddion-plugins
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gwyddion-plugins
Install gwyddion-plugins Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gwyddion-plugins
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gwyddion-plugins
How To Uninstall gwyddion-plugins on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the gwyddion-plugins
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gwyddion-plugins
Uninstall gwyddion-plugins And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gwyddion-plugins
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gwyddion-plugins
Remove gwyddion-plugins Configurations and Data
To remove gwyddion-plugins
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gwyddion-plugins
Remove gwyddion-plugins configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gwyddion-plugins
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gwyddion-plugins
