In this tutorial we learn how to install guile-gnutls on Kali Linux.

What is guile-gnutls

guile-gnutls is:

GnuTLS is a portable library which implements the Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3) and Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS 1.0, 1.2) protocols.

GnuTLS features support for:

  • certificate path validation, as well as DANE and trust on first use.
  • the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP).
  • public key methods, including RSA and Elliptic curves, as well as password and key authentication methods such as SRP and PSK protocols.
  • all the strong encryption algorithms, including AES and Camellia.
  • CPU-assisted cryptography with VIA padlock and AES-NI instruction sets.
  • HSMs and cryptographic tokens, via PKCS #11.

This package contains the GNU Guile modules.

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install guile-gnutls using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install guile-gnutls

Install guile-gnutls Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install guile-gnutls using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install guile-gnutls

How To Uninstall guile-gnutls on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the guile-gnutls package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove guile-gnutls

Uninstall guile-gnutls And Its Dependencies

To uninstall guile-gnutls and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove guile-gnutls

Remove guile-gnutls Configurations and Data

To remove guile-gnutls configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge guile-gnutls

Remove guile-gnutls configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove guile-gnutls configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge guile-gnutls
