How To Install gtk-chtheme on Debian 11
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gtk-chtheme
on Debian 11.
What is gtk-chtheme
gtk-chtheme is:
‘Gtk Theme Switch’ based utility that aims to make themes previews and selections as slick as possible. Themes installed on the system are presented for selection and previewed on the fly.
This utility was develop only to work for GTK+ 2.x themes. For GTK+ 1.x themes use ‘gtk-theme-switch’ package
There are three methods to install gtk-chtheme
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gtk-chtheme Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gtk-chtheme
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gtk-chtheme
Install gtk-chtheme Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gtk-chtheme
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gtk-chtheme
Install gtk-chtheme Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gtk-chtheme
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gtk-chtheme
How To Uninstall gtk-chtheme on Debian 11
To uninstall only the gtk-chtheme
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gtk-chtheme
Uninstall gtk-chtheme And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gtk-chtheme
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gtk-chtheme
Remove gtk-chtheme Configurations and Data
To remove gtk-chtheme
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gtk-chtheme
Remove gtk-chtheme configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
