How To Install gtimer on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gtimer on Kali Linux.
What is gtimer
gtimer is:
A graphical program that tracks how your time is spent. Maintains a simple list of tasks, each of which can belong to a project, and allows you to track time in each. Multiple clocks can run simultaneously, annotations can be added to a day’s time, and reports can be generated in either HTML or text. If GTimer detects that you’re idle, you are given the option of subtracting off the time you spent idle when you return.
Compared to other time tracking applications, GTimer is graphical without depending on a desktop environment and aims for simplicity rather than attempting to be a full-fledged project tracking and billing application.
There are three methods to install gtimer on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gtimer Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gtimer using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gtimerInstall gtimer Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gtimer using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gtimerInstall gtimer Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gtimer using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gtimerHow To Uninstall gtimer on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gtimer package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gtimerUninstall gtimer And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gtimer and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gtimerRemove gtimer Configurations and Data
To remove gtimer configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gtimerRemove gtimer configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gtimer configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gtimerDependencies
