How To Install grub-pc on Ubuntu 18.04

What is grub-pc
grub-pc is:
GRUB is a portable, powerful bootloader. This version of GRUB is based on a cleaner design than its predecessors, and provides the following new features:
- Scripting in grub.cfg using BASH-like syntax.
- Support for modern partition maps such as GPT.
- Modular generation of grub.cfg via update-grub. Packages providing GRUB add-ons can plug in their own script rules and trigger updates by invoking update-grub.
- VESA-based graphical mode with background image support and complete 24-bit color set.
- Support for extended charsets. Users can write UTF-8 text to their menu entries.
This package contains a version of GRUB that has been built for use with traditional PC/BIOS architecture.
There are three methods to install grub-pc
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install grub-pc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install grub-pc
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install grub-pc

Install grub-pc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install grub-pc
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install grub-pc
How To Uninstall grub-pc on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the grub-pc
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove grub-pc
Uninstall grub-pc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall grub-pc
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove grub-pc
Remove grub-pc Configurations and Data
To remove grub-pc
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge grub-pc
Remove grub-pc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
