How To Install grub-legacy on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install grub-legacy on Kali Linux.
What is grub-legacy
grub-legacy is:
GRUB is a GPLed bootloader intended to unify bootloading across x86 operating systems. In addition to loading the Linux kernel, it implements the Multiboot standard, which allows for flexible loading of multiple boot images (needed for modular kernels such as the GNU Hurd).
Please note that GRUB Legacy is in maintanance mode and new features are only accepted in GRUB 2 (grub-pc package).
There are three methods to install grub-legacy on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install grub-legacy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install grub-legacy using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install grub-legacyInstall grub-legacy Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install grub-legacy using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install grub-legacy using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the grub-legacy package we can use the following command:

To uninstall grub-legacy and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove grub-legacyRemove grub-legacy Configurations and Data
To remove grub-legacy configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge grub-legacyRemove grub-legacy configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
