How To Install grub-customizer on Ubuntu 22.04

What is grub-customizer
grub-customizer is:
Grub Customizer is a graphical interface to configure GRUB2 and BURG. It can do changes for settings and menuentries easily.
Grub Customizer has the following features:
- Move, remove or rename menuentries (they stey updatable by update-grub).
- Edit the contents of menuentries or create new ones (internally it edits the 40_custom file).
- Provide reinstallation of the bootloader to MBR.
- Allow make settings like default operating system, kernel params, background image, text colors, etc.
- Allow one to change the installed operating system by running on a live CD/DVD or from an OS inside a flash drive.
Grub Customizer is useful for customizations and recovering actions over any Linux distribution.
There are three methods to install grub-customizer
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install grub-customizer Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install grub-customizer
using apt-get

Install grub-customizer Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install grub-customizer
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install grub-customizer
How To Uninstall grub-customizer on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the grub-customizer
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove grub-customizer
Uninstall grub-customizer And Its Dependencies
To uninstall grub-customizer
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove grub-customizer
Remove grub-customizer Configurations and Data
To remove grub-customizer
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge grub-customizer
Remove grub-customizer configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove grub-customizer
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge grub-customizer
