How To Install grass-core on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install grass-core on Kali Linux.
What is grass-core
grass-core is:
Commonly referred to as GRASS, this is a Geographic Information System (GIS) used for geospatial data management and analysis, image processing, graphics/map production, spatial modeling, and visualization. GRASS is currently used in academic and commercial settings around the world, as well as by many government agencies and environmental consulting companies.
This package contains the core processing components, but not the GUI.
There are three methods to install grass-core on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install grass-core Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install grass-core using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install grass-coreInstall grass-core Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install grass-core using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install grass-coreInstall grass-core Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install grass-core using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install grass-coreHow To Uninstall grass-core on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the grass-core package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove grass-coreUninstall grass-core And Its Dependencies
To uninstall grass-core and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove grass-coreRemove grass-core Configurations and Data
To remove grass-core configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge grass-coreRemove grass-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove grass-core configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge grass-coreDependencies
