In this tutorial we learn how to install gr-radar on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is gr-radar

gr-radar is:

The gr-radar project provides a toolbox of commonly used radar algorithms. An important part is the UHD Echotimer, which enables a synchronized TX and RX stream from USRPs to ensure a constant phase relation in measurements. Example flowgraphs for CW, Dual CW, FSK, FMCW and OFDM radar are given and partly tested on hardware. GUI elements for target representation and further signal processing algorithms such as target tracking are implemented. Check out the project website for example videos and further information.

gr-radar provides GNU Radio Companion flowgraphs to handle RADAR data.

There are three methods to install gr-radar on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gr-radar Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gr-radar using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gr-radar

Install gr-radar Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gr-radar using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gr-radar

Install gr-radar Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gr-radar using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gr-radar

How To Uninstall gr-radar on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the gr-radar package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gr-radar

Uninstall gr-radar And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gr-radar and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gr-radar

Remove gr-radar Configurations and Data

To remove gr-radar configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gr-radar

Remove gr-radar configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gr-radar configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gr-radar
