How To Install gpsd-tools on Ubuntu 22.04

The gpsd service daemon can monitor one or more GPS devices connected to a host computer, making all data on the location and movements of the sensors available to be queried on TCP port 2947.
This package contains the most common tools ‘gpsmon’ and ‘cgps’ used to access a GPS device.
There are three methods to install gpsd-tools on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gpsd-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gpsd-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gpsd-tools

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gpsd-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gpsd-tools
Install gpsd-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gpsd-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gpsd-tools
How To Uninstall gpsd-tools on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the gpsd-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gpsd-tools
Uninstall gpsd-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gpsd-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gpsd-tools
Remove gpsd-tools Configurations and Data
To remove gpsd-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gpsd-tools
Remove gpsd-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gpsd-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gpsd-tools
