How To Install gpr on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install gpr
on Kali Linux.
What is gpr
gpr is:
gpr is a graphical interface to lpr that provides for easy configuration of printer-specific options. gpr interfaces with a PostScript printer’s PPD file to create a user-interface of configurable options. Based upon user choice, the device-specific option code is then inserted into the PostScript job and sent to the printer. This can be used to tell the printer to duplex or staple the print job, or tell it what paper tray to draw paper from. NOTE: gpr will detect if the file to be print is postscript, and, if not, it will call a2ps to preprocess it before sending it to ppdfilt and to lpr.
There are three methods to install gpr
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gpr Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gpr
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gpr
Install gpr Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gpr
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gpr
Install gpr Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gpr
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gpr
How To Uninstall gpr on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gpr
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gpr
Uninstall gpr And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gpr
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gpr
Remove gpr Configurations and Data
To remove gpr
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gpr
Remove gpr configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gpr
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gpr
